Integrating More Technology

I feel a great need to integrate more technology into the classroom because the students need to be more familiar with the different things because the world is becoming so much more technology driven. I want to use more power point presentations with my class that are more interactive. I never knew how to make links to the internet and links to go back to pages. This will help so much to make learning more fun. Now I just have to figure out the logistics in the classroom. I want to try and use the blogging with the teachers as a place for us to share ideas. The webquest was great to be able to make. I want to use it in the class and create other ones later.

Responsible Use of Technology

One important issue that is related to responsible use of technology in the classroom is to have rules for the students on how to use the internet safely. This is so very important. I know that I set limits at home for my daughter to keep her safe with all the stuff that happens over the internet and I expect even greater caution at school. The students need to realize that they should never give out any personal information to any one on the internet. Also the school should have filters already set up so the students cannot view inappropriate material, but you can also set the computers filter higher so that it is more limited. As a teacher in kindergarten I feel that this is very important. I feel that this is the first thing the students need to learn and is has to be said over and over to protect them.

Educational Tool

I could see how this would be a great tool in a more affluent area that have computers in the home. The school that I am at is Title I and 100% free lunch. Very few students have computers in thier homes so using this with them would be difficult. I could see that it may be a great way for our grade level team to share ideas and plan things out together without even being together. We could communicate ideas and share resources we have found through this. I think that at this time this is how I would use it in my teaching.
